Serving as an officer in the FFA is a great honor. Having the chance to serve as a state officer is an even greater honor and with it comes many opportunities to influence, impact and serve FFA members, advisors, teachers, and supporters of the organization. These opportunities to lead and impact are invaluable and represent what the service to the FFA is all about. Below is a list of the opportunities that state officers participate in during their year of service.
Days of Travel Students to Meet Packs of Mr. Sketch Markers FFA Jackets Chapters to Visit Workshops to PresentThis is a premier conference developed and presented by National FFA for state officers to begin their year of service. Base Camp provides training in sound character, positive influence, professionalism and time management.
During these conferences, state officers develop their team and performance, plan and evaluate presentations, and hone in on conversation skills that prepare them for their year of service. During these conferences, state officers are able to interact with each other and their assigned National FFA facilitator.
This is a three-day leadership conference for all 375 state officers from each association held annually in Washington, D.C. This advanced leadership training builds on the first components of the state FFA officer continuum. In addition to leadership development, participants develop an understanding of partner relationships, advocacy, and the initial phase of the national delegate process.
Together with the National Pork Board and the Florida Pork Improvement Group, Florida FFA has created an opportunity for state FFA officers to dive into a week of true, production agriculture in the Midwest. This unique opportunity will be filled with farm and operation tours shining light on real American agriculture. Addition, various entities and staff will work to develop ways to share your experiences once you return to Florida.
National FFA Convention will be without a doubt one of the highlights of your year as a State Officer. Your experience at national convention as a State Officer will be unlike any of your previous convention experiences. The opportunity to serve as a National Delegate is an amazing chance to become truly involved in National FFA.
State officers have the opportunity to travel abroad and experience agricultural from a global perspective. This seminar gives officers networking opportunities with agriculture companies, a unique cultural experience, and an overall awareness about the ever-changing global marketplace.
State officers also have the opportunities to meet with people that influence agriculture and education on state, national, and regional levels. State officers in the past have met with the Commissioner of Agriculture, Commissioner of Education, Governor, and various congressional leaders at the state and national levels.
Planning and running the state FFA convention is the last act that a state officer will perform during their year of service. The team works diligently in the months before convention to put together an atmosphere that will ultimately inspire members.
The primary responsibility of a state officer is to serve the Florida FFA Association, Agricultural Education and Agriculture as an ambassador in local, state and national activities in a way that will inform, motivate and inspire FFA members, advisors and others to embrace and uphold the FFA mission of making a positive difference in the lives of students
Preparing for Interviews and Practicum’s simply requires one strategy – practice. When preparing for interviews, applicants and candidates are encouraged to set up mock interviews, write and answer practice questions, get to know themselves, journal, consider different audiences, and enlist help.

The primary responsibility of a district officer is to serve the Florida FFA Association, Agricultural Education and Agriculture as an ambassador in district activities in a way that will inform, motivate and inspire FFA members, advisors and others to embrace and uphold the FFA mission of making a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
The twelve district presidents shall be elected each year at the annual State Convention. The district presidents shall hold the rank of Chapter FFA Degree. The district presidents shall assume the responsibilities of their office as outlined by the Florida FFA Association under the supervision of their advisor or appointed district advisor.
