Enable/Disable Auto Capitalization in MS Word

MS Word Header

I don’t like Microsoft Word 2021 or 365 telling me what to do. It auto-capitalizes things that I don’t want it to. I can capitalize my own work thank you! You can change Word’s Auto Capitalization settings to your liking by performing these steps.

  1. While working in Word, select the “File” menu and choose “Options“. If hidden, select “More…“, then choose “Options“.
    <a href=Word 2021 Options" width="500" height="692" />
  2. Select “Proofing” and then select the “AutoCorrect Options…” button.

  3. Here you can check the boxes to customize what you want Word to automatically capitalize.
  4. Select “OK“, then “OK” again when you are done.

These settings are also located other Office applications such as Excel and PowerPoint.
